Microsoft Office Installation Error code 30125-1011 (404)

System File checking or SFC Scan.

System file checker tool is an advanced mechanism to check and verify the missing and corrupted system files in the operating system. This utility will allow the windows to scan and restore the missing/corrupted files.

If windows resource protection files are missing, your computer may not work properly and it may go malfunctioning such as software installation may throw up errors, computer may crash or restart frequently.

Follow the steps to run System file checker tool or sfc.exe

  1. Click on windows key
  2. Search for command prompt or cmd
  3. Right click and run the command prompt as administrator.
  4. If prompted for administrator password or confirmation click password or click allow.
  5. Once the command prompt is open, type the following command and click ENTER

                     SFC /SCANNOW

The SFC /SCANNOW command will scan and verify all protected system files in the computer and restore the corrupted files with cached copy in the computer located at %WinDir%\System32\dllcache which represents windows system folder.

How to fix Error code 30125-1011

Note: Do not close the command prompt until the verification is 100% complete.

  1. Try installing Microsoft Office once the SFC scan is completed.

Make a temporary exception on Firewall or Antivirus for Microsoft Office.

The Firewall or Antivirus installed on the computer may sometime detect and auto-delete execution file of Microsoft Office as a part of system security in background. The Office installer is an online setup in order to provide the latest features and updates in each and every installation.

The Antivirus software such as McAfee, Norton, Bit Defender, AVG, Kaspersky, Panda, Avast or Webroot installed on the computer works as high security firewall in protecting from virus, spyware, Trojan horses and malware components entering the computer from external sources such as internet and external drives such USB and Ext HDD. These security protection will also check and verify the contents from internet. And if the security level is set as High or Strong, it will not allow any execution over the internet for security reasons. Hence it might also blocks the online installation of Microsoft Office 365 or Office 2016 or Office 2013.

Following given are the steps to temporarily disable firewall or Antivirus.

a) To disable Windows Firewall:
  1. Click on start button and select control panel.
  2. In search box type firewall and Click on windows Firewall.
  3. In left pane, click on Turn Windows firewall OFF or ON.
  4. Click on Turn OFF Firewall.
  5. Try installing Office once firewall is turned OFF.
b) To disable McAfee Antivirus
  1. Check for McAfee indicationicon on right side of taskbar.
  2. Right click on the indication icon and select Real Time scanning.
  3. Click on TURN OFF in real time scanning option.
  4. Select Firewall in McAfee navigation pane.
  5. Click on TURN OFF in firewall menu.
  6. Try installing Microsoft Office after disabling Antivirus.
c) To disable AVG Antivirus
  1. Open AVG program and Click onAdvanced settings option.
  2. From the drop-down menu, select temporarily disable AVG protection.
  3. Choose the time to disable AVG.
  4. Choose disable the firewall protection and Click OK.
  5. Try installing Microsoft Office after disabling Antivirus.
d) To disable Norton Antivirus
  1. Right click the NortonAntivirus icon win windows taskbar and click Disable smart Firewall.
  2. Click Disable Antivirus Auto-Protect.
  3. Choose the time to disable the program.
  4. Try installing Microsoft Office after disabling Antivirus.
e) To disable BitDefender Antivirus
  1. Double click on the BitDefendericon in the lower right corner of the desktop.
  2. Click Virus shield on the left side.
  3. Uncheck the Virus shieldoption to turn off BitDefender.
  4. Try installing Microsoft Office after disabling Antivirus.
f) To disable Panda Antivirus
  1. Open Panda Antivirus
  2. Click on virus shield
  3. 3. Set the control OFF position to disable Panda Antivirus.
  4. Try installing Microsoft Office after disabling Antivirus.
g) To disable Webroot Antivirus
  1. Opensystem try, right click on secureAnyWhere icon of webroot.
  2. Select Shut-Down protection.
  3. Click YES on confirmation prompt and enter CAPTCHA if required for confirmation.
  4. Try installing Microsoft Office after disabling Antivirus.
h) To disable Avast Antivirus
  1. Click on Avast icon from notification area of windows taskbar.
  2. Click on Avast shield control.
  3. Select disable for 10 minute.
  4. Click YES on confirmation prompt.
  5. Try installing Microsoft Office after disabling Antivirus.

Rebuilt/Repair Office Registry keys

Office installation Error code 30125-1011 (404) may also occur in case of registry corruptions or wrong values. These value modification or corruption are normally occurred due to installation of unknown applications or expired trial versions of antivirus. It is required to check the registry key status of registry keys to make sure that there is no change in registry for a successful installation of Microsoft Office 365 or Office 2016 or 2013.

Follow the steps to check the registry key status:

  1. Open registry Editor
  2. Check for default values set in

          Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Common

If default key in Office common registry is set as 1 or 0, delete the key and click Ok

Uninstall and reinstall the Latest Office programs

In most of the cases the previous version of Office installed on the computer may not allow the installation of latest Office 365 or Office 2016 or Office 2013 as a result to avoid duplication. It may throw up Error code 30125-1011 (404) while installing or upgrading the office program. Hence is recommended to remove or uninstall preinstalled Microsoft Office before installing the latest Office program.

To uninstall or update previous version of office:

  1. Open control panel and select programs and features
  2. Click on Microsoft Office and select Uninstall
  3. Once uninstall is finished, Try installing the Latest version of Office

To manually remove duplicate office contents:

  1. Open %program files%
  2. Navigate to Program files > Microsoft Office
  3. Then delete Microsoft Office 15, Microsoft Office 16 and Microsoft Office folders
  4. Open %program files(x86)%
  5. Navigate to Microsoft Office
  6. Then delete Microsoft Office 15, Microsoft Office 16 and Microsoft Office folders

Remove previous Office keys mannually:

  1. Open registry editor
  2. Navigate to below keys

 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun

           HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MicrosoftAppVISV

           HKEY_CU RRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office

  1. Delete the keys
